Red Shedman Review
Red Shedman — Frederick County
I visit Red Shedman on a regular basis. It’s brewery, adjacent to a winery; both of which are on the same property. The brewery does make multiple ciders, so I felt it was worth mentioning.
The brewery regularly has 2+ ciders on draft and more in cans at any given time. They tend to be on the sweeter side and are often fairly carbonated. Many of their ciders are small batches so you have to go and get them while you can.
As of Jan 2023, I’ve tried the following ciders from them:
- Pumpkin Pie Hard Cider - 4.25/5
- “Cinnister” Hard Cider - 4/5
- Pineapple Hard Cider - 4.25/5
- Ginger Hard Cider - 4.5/5
- Lemon Blueberry Hard Cider - 4.5/5
- Thai Basil Ginger Coconut Hard Cider - 4.75/5
- Blueberry Cobbler Cider - 3.75/5
- Apple Pie and Ice Cream Hard Cider - 4.5/5
- Cranberry Hard Cider - 4.75/5
- Picnic Watermelon Cider - 5/5
- Raspberry Hard Cider - 4.25/5
They have some indoor seating, but most people hang outside. Lots of people bring chairs, tents, and blankets. If you go on the weekend, expect good food trucks, live music, and generally a decent crowd. Lots of families come there with their kids to hang out for the day. Depending on the time, the lines to order can get long. Their ciders are relatively inexpensive, typically between $6-8. Some options may only be available in bottles or cans. Dogs are also welcome, and they have at least one farm dog that comes around to greet everyone and make sure they are doing okay. If you like wine and/or beer, they have that as well. I definitely recommend checking them out.
